Weekly Update & Finished Mystery Top

Well this week I accomplished most of my goals, but didn't bust any stash since my goals were to finish up some things that were already started and weren't going to use up more stash.

Here's what I accomplished this week:

  • Finished the center of my Carolina Crossroads Mystery top, I haven't figured out the yardage used yet, but I plan to use the leftover fabric from my accent fabric and the FQs I used for the borders.

  • Finished the tulip block for a theme applique swap I'm in

  • Finished my addition to a small round robin

  • Finished the last row for a Row Robin - used 3/4 yard of 30's scraps

  • Bought No Fabric!!!

Here are my goals for the coming week:

  • Cut out strips for the Quiltville Bargello Bowl Project

  • Work on swap/round robin commitments

  • Finish the triptych projects for MQR

  • Avoid buying Fabric!!!

And here it is.......My finished Carolina Crossroads center!

A Finished Swap Block & Fun Mail!

Well I finally finished the tulip block I've been hand appliqueing for a theme applique swap. This pot of tulips will be sent out on Monday, I'm so glad to have it finished finally!

And the last couple days have brought me some fun mail!! I got my round robin back from the Feedsack Friends group! It looks fantastic!! I am thrilled with it and I wouldn't change a thing!! Thanks you to all of you ladies that worked on it!!

And today I received my final gift box from my Secret Quilter on the MQR Forum and found out that my Secret Quilter was the ever sneaky Gayle McKay. SHe really had me going over the last 6 months! She went as far as to send me a secret email telling me that Gayle had offered to send a package out to me from her. Thank you soooo much Gayle....You have been AWESOME and I just love everything you've sent me!! Here's the latest package which includes 2 lovely pewter trays with quilt block designs stamped into them and a fabric panel that I have been eyeing for awhile (I'm on a fabric diet or it would have already been mine LOL) and some coordinating fabrics. This will become a wallhanging for my studio sometime soon :) You are the best Gayle!!!

Row Robin Finished & Headed Home

Well this has been a long time coming, I just finished my row for a Row Robin that started last year. The group had a few hiccups along the way, but the final set of rows is now finished and headed home. It was a very fun swap and I think we all had fun making the rows for each other!

This Week in Stashbusting!

Well I managed to accomplish most of my goals this past week and more that weren't on the list!

Here's what I was able to do this week:

  • Finished quilting the shop sample that gave me fits the week before. This quilt used 2.5 yards of 108" wide fabric from my stash!

  • Completed steps 5, 6 & 7 (blocks) from the quiltville mystery. Step 5 used 1.5 yards of stash. The other steps are piecing the blocks from the units already made so they didn't use any additional stash.

  • Avoided buying any fabric!!

These are my goals for the coming week:

  • Assemble the Carolina Crossroads top

  • Catch up on the round robins here at the house

  • Work on the Triptych Challenge pieces on the MQR list

  • Avoid buying fabric!!

Here are the Step 6 setting triangles and the Step 7 Ring blocks from the Quiltville Mystery:

Almost Finished Step #6

Well I have finished the Star blocks of the Carolina Crossroads step 6. I just have to make the setting triangles and then I'll be on to step 7. I am sooooo happy that I changed my accent color before I started. If I had kept the original sage green I was going to use instead of the cranberry the stars would have been lost.

Step 5 is Done!

Well I have now finished all of the "units" for the Carolina Crossroads mystery on Quiltville....YAY!!! This step was 100 3" finished hourglass blocks. Bonnie recommended using the Companion Angle ruler and I was thrilled with this ruler! I can certainly see myself using this ruler again in the future! Now I'm on to step 6 where I get to start putting blocks together....Stay Tuned!

And here's what I saw when I came into the bedroom to grab my camera....One of my silly kitties Sneak the calico.

Let it Snow, Let Me Sew!

Well we had a lovely snowfall here on the eastern shore of Maryland and it was beautiful as it fell. The best part is that while it looked pretty in the yard, it didn't muck up the roads!!!

Can you think of a better way to spend a snowy afternoon than quilting away??? I finished quilting the quilt that was on the frame. I had a little hiccup while I was quilting it last weekend and had to spend more than 8 hours ripping out a whole pass of a panto. But I finished doing that and finished the quilting this afternoon. It is now off the frame, folded and in a monster ziploc bag ready to head home to it's owner. The panto is Plumage by Jodi Beamish and I love this panto! It really gives the look of freehand feathers with a nice consistent amount of coverage. I will be using this panto again for sure!

Weekly Update

Well it's been a pretty good week for this stashbuster! I accomplished some of my goals for the week and I feel good about my accomplishments! Here's what I managed to do:
  • Finished steps 3 & 4 of the Carolina Crossroads mystery, this quilt is all from stash and the 2 steps together used approximately 2 yards of fabric
  • Worked on quilting a class sample for a friend (this would be finished if I hadn't messed up on one row, I'm still ripping out some quilting and should have the ripping finished tomorrow as well as the quilting). The backing fabric came from stash and is 2 1/2 yards of 108" wide backing fabric
  • Avoided buying fabric!!

Here's my goals for the coming week:

  • Finish quilting the class sample
  • Complete step 5 of the mystery
  • Finish my row for a row robin
  • Avoid buying fabric for the stash!

Not a bad week overall. My goals for the week are pretty light since I will be out and about running hubby and mom to doctor's appointments pretty much every day this week. So I decided to be realistic and not push myself too hard LOL

Finished Step 4!!!!

Well I finished step 4 of the quiltville mystery today! The strips are cut out for step 5 but I haven't subcut them yet. I guess that will be a project for the weekend.

An Old Work in Progress!

Amy over at Calico Cat was showing her Blooming Nine Patch top and asked if anyone had made one. I have one in progress and really woud like to get it finished this year. I love this pattern and the construction is pretty easy (although tedious at times). Seeing her finished top makes me want to pull mine out and work on it now LOL

Step 3 Finished!

In the wee hours of the morning when I couldn't sleep I managed to finish step 3 of the quiltville mystery! I'm so excited that I'm almost caught up. I'm working on step 4 now which should go together pretty quickly (I hope). This has been a very fun process and I'm so happy to say that I am using fabrics from my stash. I bought the Moda Poetry FQ collection some time ago and I have been looking at it sitting prettily in my drawer for too long. It is so nice to actually see it coming together into a quilt now :)

On another note, have any of you in Blogland noticed the new Pepsi bottle labels? I was looking at the label of my soda yesterday and noticed that it looked like a Lone Star quilt design. Have any of you noticed this lately? My hubby thinks I'm just crazy and obsessed LOL. Perhaps he's right about that LOL

Reporting on Stash Usage!

Well not a great week in the land of stashbusting, but a good week nonetheless. Here's what I accomplished this past week:

  • Finished the 2007 NYE mystery by Ann Smith, all fabrics cut from stash the week before.

  • Finished my contribution to a Round Robin, all fabric from stash (approx. 1/4 yard of white Kona)

  • Finished the 9" black & white churn dash blocks for a swap, fabric from the leftover fabrics used in the 12" churn dash blocks from last year

  • Avoided buying fabric!

These are my goals for the coming week:

  • Cut and make step 3 of the quiltville mystery

  • Add my round to another round robin

  • Finish my row in a row robin

  • Quilt a Turning Twenty quilt for a friend (I am providing the back fabric from my stash)

  • Don't buy fabric!

Here's a picture of the black and white churn dash blocks, they were alot of fun to make and I've already drafted the setting pattern for them after they are swapped.

Some Progress in the New Year!

Well I have made some progress this week. I have finished the top from Ann Smith's 2007 NYE mystery as well as my addition to my friend swooze's round robin. And the best part of it all!! I used only my very own stash!! The fabrics from the mystery are from Moda's Sonnet fabric line. I must have really loved this line because I still have quite a few fat quarters and a wide backing fabric from this line in the stash even after this quilt top LOL. Here are the pictures:

And here's a picture (finally) of my dog Max. He's a white Bull Terrier and about the sweetest guy in the world allbeit a wee bit high strung even at the age of 4 LOL

Happy New Year & My Blogiversary!

New Year Glitter Graphics

Well I cannot believe that I have been blogging for a year today, 2007 just flew by!

I have had a blast sharing my quilty life with you all over the last year and I look forward to sharing another year with you all.

I have decided that 2008 will be the year for me to gain better control over my quilty fabric stash as well as my many UFOs. My UFO lists have been updated and are posted on my sidebar. I am teetering on that 100 UFO mark and that kinda scares me LOL. I'm certainly not saying that I will not start new projects in 2008, I need to start new projects if I want to use more stash. But I will als concentrate on some UFOs along the way. Most of my UFOs have not reached the "top" or "flimsy" stage and I'd like to change that. Hopefully by January 2009 I'll be able to say that I have finished many UFOs and that I've turned most of my stacks of blocks into tops that are ready to be quilted!

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2008!!!!
