A Wonderful Mail Day!

Well even though I had to go to meeting at the office today (after removing 1/4" of solid ice from my car), it was a great day! When I pulled into the driveway I saw 2 packages on the doorstep and they were for me!!

The first package was my Valentine's Swap from Lynette in Australia. Here's what I saw when I opened the package:

And here's what was inside the package: Lynette stitched the little tag with a bear angel (so cute!), there was also an angel brooch, a paper ball with hearts on it, a bracelet with my name and a heart on it (my daughter has one of these and I'e always wanted one of my own), a big chocolate heart and a little pillow. The pillow is a hand stitched sampler that says "Forever Friends we will be, Like Peas in a Pod". The stitching is absolutely amazing and I love love love the colors she chose!!! Thank you so very much Lynette!!! I hope you enjoy what I've sent you and that it arrives soon!!!

The other package was my order from Red Rock Threads!! I ordered a pretty rotary cutter (I have a real addiction to gadgets and bought the Gingher rotary cutter yesterday at JoAnns LOL), some Wonderfil Thread to try in the HQ16, a spool of 28wt Aurofil verigated thread to use for some machine embroidery "redwork" and some more Fil-Tec prewound cotton bobbins. I love these bobbins! The thread is great and I use the cream color the most!

Hope everyone else is staying warm and safe!!

Today It's All About Me!

It's been a good day for me! I got my new recliner all set up in my little corner. I can chat and handquilt and read in comfort now :) The chair is red microfiber and I have the lap quilt that a friend made for me several years ago on the back and a little pillow that another friend made for me last spring in the chair.

I also received my Pay it Forward gift from welshquilter and I just love this sewing caddy! The outside is pieced and quilted and I can't wait to enjoy the little chocolate bar :) I'm still trying to decide what to make for my PIF gifts but will have them done and out soon.

The weather people are calling for wintery weather here this weekend and we have food in the house so I hope to have time to quilt over the weekend and catch up on some outstanding commitments!

Happy Quilting!!!

Playing Catch Up!

Well I know I haven't been posting much the last couple weeks. I've been busy getting back into the routine of going to work for full days insteda of just a few hours a week LOL. Boy is that ever an adjustment! I'm not back to full time yet, but between working a few days a week and then taking mom or hubby to doc appts on the other days it really has put a crimp on my quilting time LOL.

I have managed to sneak a few things in though. I managed to finally finish my scrappy bargello center from the SuperBargello Bowl and I am thrilled with the result. I have decided on the borders and have ordered some fabric for the outer borders. The inner borders will be from stash and leftover scraps from the piecing. I would normally pull border fabric from the stash, but since the center fabrics are from a single fabric line I wanted the borders to pull that all together and wound up ordering yardage of one of my favorite fabrics from the line.

I also worked on a couple of valances for the french doors in my dining room. I pulled 4 blocks that I received in a swap several years ago. I was originally going to make a table runner from them, but decided they would be perfect for these valances. I pulled a nice red sashing fabric from my stash and put the tops together. I will load them onto the frame and practice "Wonky Feathers" on them hopefully sometime this week.

Now here's the stashbusting update for the last couple weeks (since I've missed posting):

  • Finished the center of the Scrappy Bargello - busted 24 FQs = 6 yards of fabric from the stash

  • Finished piecing 2 valances for French Doors - busted 1 yard of stash fabric

Here are my goals for the coming week:

  • Make a fun case for my new cell phone

  • Finish my addition to 2 round robins

  • Make a new purse for me

  • Quilt and Bind valances

  • Bind Triptych Project

Let's see how I do!

So Pink isn't Everything!

Well even though I love pink and all things pink, my new pink phone was not all it was cracked up to be. So yesterday I went to the Sprint store and upgraded to the Mogul. It's similar to the iPhone but is Windows based and very easy to use. It even has a full keyboard that pops out of one side. Hubby liked mine so much that today we went and got him one too LOL. I can't have anything to myself LOL

Project Progress is Good!

Well I've had a pretty productive week or so since my last post. I managed to get half of my scrappy bargello pieced on Superbowl Sunday (I need to finish that top up), I finished my triptych pieces and received my pieces from my partners and I finished quilting a customer quilt!! All in all very productive!!

Here's some pictures to show you what I've been up to :)

Oh and I have some great news. Yesterday I received a promotion at work!!! It means that I will be working more hours (which equates to less quilting time), but it's a great opportunity for me and I am thrilled to now be a manager/supervisor!! I have been in this business for nearly 10 years and working for this particular company for a year. I can certainly see myself staying with Woodwind for many years!

Bargellobowl '08 is Almost Here!

Well I spent this evening cutting my 2.5" strips for this Sunday's Bargello Bowl thru the quiltville chat list! I chose fabrics from The Buggy Barn's "Sherbet" line. Last summer at my guild's quilt show I bought this fat quarter bundle from one of the vendors and have been waiting for a fun project in which to use them. Now I'm very excited for Sunday to hurry up and get here so that I can whip this one up!

Here's a picture of the fabrics I'm using. Hope to see you all on the quiltville chat list on Sunday making another quick top!
