Finished Another UFO!

This is my Scrappy Bargello made from Bonnie Hunter's pattern. I used a FQ bundle from Buggy Barn's Sherbet line and I am just thrilled with how this one turned out!

This quilt was started on Superbowl Sunday 2008 and finished a few days before Superbowl Sunday 2009, shew it was only a UFO for about a year :) Finished size is 72" x 92"

I quilted this one with a freehand overall flower design using pink thread. I also used the Fairfield Bamboo batting and I love it! I'm looking forward to washing this one to see how the batting reacts.
So 2 UFOs down, 99 to go......

Stash Report: Week 4

It's been a good week for Stashbusting around here. I cut some strips for my Superbowl Sunday project, sent some charm packs out as a swap gift and sed quite a bit of fabric to back my Scrappy Bargello.

The quilting on the Scrappy Bargello is almost finished and I am very happy with it so far. I am really looking forward to finishing and using this one :)

Here's this week's report:

Fabric added this week: 0 yards

Fabric added year to date: 4.75 yards

Fabric used this week: 9 yards

Fabric used year to date: 19.25 yards

Net fabric busted: 14.5 yards

If I keep up this pace I should be able to reach my 100 net yards busted in 2009 without a problem. However there are alot of pretty new jelly rolls and FQ packs coming on the market soon from Moda that are just calling my name.

Stash Report: Week 3

3 weeks into 2009 and I still have not purchased any fabric, but this week I received some fabric gifts. Since I plan to report all fabric as it's busted, I will consider gifts of fabric to be additions to the stash. Thankfully I'm still on the plus side of the stashbusting totals :)

Note: The above photo is just some of the jelly rolls in my stash, I'm still trying to find the "perfect" jelly roll pattern.

Yesterday I had planned to cut some more fabric for my Superbowl Sunday project, but I messed up my back around the bottom of my left shoulderbalde and have not been able to get around too well since then.

Here's this week's report:

Fabric added this week: 4.75 yards
Fabric added year to date: 4.75 yards
Fabric used this week: 2.75 yards
Fabric used year to date: 10.25 yards
Net fabric busted: 5.5 yards

Today was the Band Booster Vera Bradley Bingo Fundraiser. I donated the quilt in this post to the raffle. We made nearly $1,000 on the raffles and I received alot of compliments on the quilt. The tickets were only on sale today and there were 211 people at the event. So not too bad for a day's work. I also won one of the bingo games and brought a lovely Very Bradley Raspberry Fizz Cargo Sling Purse home with me. I am soooooo excited because I am not the luckiest person when it comes to these games. YAY me!!!

Wonderful Mail Day!!

The last 2 days have been wonderful in my mailbox!!! I received 3 very special packages......
#1 - in November 2007 I joined a 15 month Round Robin with several other bloggers that was slated to end this month, so the finished projects have been trickling home. My little beauty arrived home yesterday. Today I had the chance to really look at my lovely quiltlet. I started with the little shoofly block in the upper left corner and the only guidelines I provided were "Please use pinks, greens & creams". I am in awe of the finished quilt!! I cannot wait to hang this little treasure in my office at work!!! Thank you to all of the ladies that had a part in making this quilt, I am thrilled!!!

#2 - I am a member of the Machine Quilting Professionals yahoo list and after the Secret Sister program started, some members were feeling a little left out. So, Cynthia started the Red-Headed Step Child swap for those of us that didn't join the Secret Sister program. Each month we send a little giftie to Cynthia and she puts those gifts into a big box. Then she draws a name to determine which of us will receive the box that month. January I was apparently chosen as the lucky recipient!! Well I gotta tell you, I sure don't feel like the red-headed step child right now!! The box was chock full of quilty goodness!!! I am in awe and absolutely floored by all the goodies!!! Thanks so much to all the Red-Headed Step Children that helped put a big smile on my face :)

#3 - My mini group, the Sundae Quilters, got together before the guild meeting this past Saturday to exchange our Secret Santa gifts. I was unable to join my friends because a nasty storm was headed our way, and I drive a little over 2 hours each way over a few mountains to get to the guild meeting. So my BFF, Nancy, mailed my gift to me. Jan got my a Gypsy Rose jelly roll....You have no clue how tickled I am about this gift!!! I am a HUGE fan of Fig Tree and love anything they design!!! This is a jelly roll that I have been lusting after for awhile and now I have it in my hot little hands :) Thanks a million Jan!!!

So even though I'm not feeling 100% right now (picked up a stomach flu bug) I have a silly smile on my face :)
Thanks so much everyone!!!

Stash Report: Week 2

The report is a little more promising this week. I managed to cut some stash for a couple projects. I made a tote bag this week and pieced a backing for the quilt currently on the frame, YAY!!!

So here's this week's report:

Fabric added this week: 0 yards
Fabric added year to date: 0 yards
Fabric used this week: 7.5 yards
Fabric used year to date: 7.5 yards
Net fabric busted: 7.5 yards

I'm 2 weeks into the year and I'm on the positive side of net stash busted.....Wooohooo!

Hopefully I can keep this up over the next 50 weeks.....Here's to future stash busting!

Saturday Quiltathon Progress!

I've been Quiltathoning today, have you?? Since the weather decided not to cooperate with my original plans for today (I was supposed to go to Pennsylvania for a secret santa swap with my mini group and then to the guild meeting) I managed to get some good quilting time in :)

I finished the binding on the Mini Round Robin that I've been involved with for the last 14 months. The quiltlet is on it's way home to Amy on Monday so I can't show a picture. Check out her blog later this week and I'm sure there will be a picture posted :)

After that, I decided it was time to stop procrastinating and started quilting the New Year's Eve mystery I tested back in November. This quilt is being donated to our high school's Band Booster program to raffle off during our 2nd annual Vera Bradley Bingo next weekend. I should be able to finish the quilting tonight and tomorrow and get the binding on in the evenings this week. Here's a couple pictures of the progress so far.

Another Swap Received :)

Last year I signed up for the Polka Dots & Rick Rack swap on Red Geranium Cottage and received my swap package today. My swap partner Melinda really spoiled me :)

She sent me a lovely lime green polka dotted bag, a shopping tote that folds up into itself and a little tote that will be perfect for my cell phone. The lining of the polka dotted bag is the same "rick rack" fabric as the shopping tote and cell phone tote. I also received a steno book with a polka dot quilted cover and a couple polka dotted runners. I am just thrilled with everything!! I can't wait to use my new lime green bag :) Thanks so much Melinda!!!

First 2009 Finished Project!

No it's not a UFO, it's a new project that I started today. It is however a stashbuster. I used 2 1/2 yards of fabric on this bag and it's done. It's called the Whimsy Bag from Lazy Girl Designs and I think I like it LOL. It's a gift for a friend and I hope she likes it.

Stash Report: Week 1

OK, here we go, fresh and clean in the world of stashbusting 2009!!

I've decidd that I am going to track fabric that enters the stash as well as leaving the stash. My net goal for 2009 is 100 yards. Last year I busted over 150 yards from the stash, but I didn't track any incoming yardage.

For my purposes, fabric will be considered "busted" as soon as it is cut for a project, since at that point it cannot return to the stash.

So without further ado:

Fabric added this week: 0 yards
Fabric added year to date: 0 yards
Fabric used this week: 0 yards
Fabric used year to date: 0 yards
Net fabric busted: 0 yards

Not very impressive. I did manage to piece a top, but all of the fabric had been cut for the top before January 1st, so it went onto my stashbusting for 2008.

Mystery Quilt Top!

Today I managed to finish the top from the Christmas Mystery on the yahoo group A Pocketfull of Mysteries. The pattern was designed by Dorothy Young and is called Mosaic Tiles. I do love Dorothy's mystery patterns and am so glad that I joined in on this one.

This is one of my favorite focus fabrics called Paris Cats. I also have some of it in the pink colorway and am looking forward to making that quilt as well.

I still have to decide on the borders, but will do that another day :)

Enjoy!

Goodbye 2008 ~ Hello 2009!

Well I finished 2008 in quilty style! The last 3 days of the year I put borders onto 3 different UFO tops, so they are all now ready for quilting! Here are the pictures :)

This is my Scrappy Bargello, which was started on Superbowl Sunday 2008 during the Bargello Bowl on the quiltville chat list. It's a Bonnie Hunter pattern and I used a FQ bundle from Buggy Barn's Sherbet fabric line. I am absolutley THRILLED with this top, I will be keeping this one for myself :)

Here's a top I made during a quilt retreat in Spring 2007. The pattern is called Wanderlust and I used a pack of fat quarters from Maywood's He Loves Me fabric line. I used the coordinating border print for the borders and the corners are mitered.

And finally, this is the New Year's Eve 2008 Ann Smith mystery that I tested back in October/November of this year. The pattern was for a square quilt and I'm not a huge fan of square quilts, so I added an extra border on the top and bottom only in order to make th top oblong. I used musical instrument fabric that has been in the stash for ages and this top will be quilted and donated to the High School Band Boosters as a fundraiser on January 18th. I'm very happy with the result!

Now I'm off to work a little more on my Mosaic Tiles Christmas Mystery. I'd like to get the top finished before I go back to work on Monday.

Happy 2009 everyone!
