On (and Off) the Needles–December 28th

I can’t believe it’s the final OTN post of 2012.  I have had quite a productive year knitwise!!

As of right now I’ve knit nearly 9 miles of yarn this year….that is so hard to believe!!

I did manage to finish up Christmas gifts (one hat was finished late and will be given today).

The socks for my cousin were finished on Christmas morning….

001

My daughter’s hat was finished last weekend…

003

And I started and finished a hat for my daughter’s boyfriend…

002

A hat for my Mother in Law….

002

And I’ve started and nearly finished a Hoodwink Scarf for myself.  This is knit with String Theory DK yarn held double on HUGE size 11 needles.  I feel like I’m knitting with jumbo crayons.  But wow is it ever knitting up fast!  I cast on Wednesday night and am about 40 rows away from finishing the 2nd scarf side….Woohoo!

Well being the holiday season I have been knit knit knitting along….

I finished the hat that was on the needles last week….

002

As well as another hat….

001

And these socks are still on the needles, I’m turning the heels right now…

002

I also started another hat as a Christmas gift….

004

I have to finish the socks and hat that are on the needles and knit another pair of socks and 2 more hats before Christmas….  I know what I’ll be doing over the next 4 days…

This week I also delivered the gifts for my coworkers and bosses.  They are all very well loved and I’m thrilled to work with such knit worthy folks!

On (and Off) the Needles–December 14th

Sorry I missed checking in last Friday, early last week I slammed my pinky finger into my car truck and managed to break the finger which has laded me in a splint for 4-6 weeks.  But I won’t let that get me down….I have Christmas knitting to finish and by golly I will get it all done!!

So first…..off the needles since my last report…

I finished the Stripey Scarf and I just love it!

003

002

I also finished the Sloucy Tuva Hat that I started a couple weeks ago…

001

The I started and finished a pair of CafĂ© au Lait fingerless Mitts for a gift.  Love the yarn and the pattern.  The yarn is Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Mediumweight in a Rare Gems colorway….

001

Then I started another sockhead hat for a gift.  I’m more than halfway finished.  I feel like I can knit these in my sleep now LOL

001

And I started my cousin’s socks.  This is another pair of plain vanilla style socks using self striping Opal yarn.  Love this yarn!!

002

After these projects are finished I have another pair of socks to knit and 3 more hats.  Here’s looking at a lot of long nights knitting between now and the holidays!!

On (and Off) the Needles–November 30th

Another productive week with quite a bit off the needles (YAY!) and a couple things on the needles!

I started and finished a hat to match the scarf I’m knitting as a Christmas gift set for a coworker.  The hat is the Sockhead Hat pattern and is free on Ravelry.  I make a lot of these hats and they are quick and fun knit using fingering weight sock yarn!

004

I also finally finished knitting the Double Dog Dare sweater that I was test knitting.  Here it is being modeled by Mollie & Peaches….

004

005

The scarf is still in progress and will hopefully be finished soon…

001

And I cast on another hat which will be a holiday gift for my boss.  Loving this fun open work pattern!

005

And finally, here are some better pictures of the Juicy Superstar Shawl that I finished last week..

On (and Off) the Needles–November 23rd

It’s been a pretty productive week for knitting.  Who knew that being off work all week could make me finish things LOL

I finally finished the test knit shawl I’ve been working on.  I still need to put on the hook and eye closures and get some better pictures, but it is off the needles.  WOW icord binding and edging takes a LONG time on a HUGE shawl!

I also decided that I didn’t like how the stripes were looking on the scarf I started last week, so I ripped it out and switched to a hat using the Ravens yarn.  Love how the hat turned out!  And it only took 2 days to knit.

001

Since I really do like the scarf pattern, I decided to start it using a different yarn that has a wider self striping pattern.  It’s looking pretty good so far and it will wind up as a Christmas gift for someone (just haven’t decided who yet).

On the Needles–November 16th

Still plugging along on the Juicy Superstar Shawl test knit.  I only have 8 more rows to knit and then the icord edging gets done….woohoo!!

020

I also cast on another test knit which is a dog sweater.  It would be easy going if the cable section wasn’t so tight, but I’ll keep on going and git-r-dun soon!

021

And I also was itching to cast on this Raven’s striped yarn from Fresh from the Cauldron.  This will be a Christmas gift for my mom as she loves the Baltimore Ravens.  The pattern is One Row Handspun Scarf, easy peasy pattern and a very fast knit.  I will be knitting more of them!

On the Needles–November 2, 2012

After successfully finishing the Socktober Opal Challenge last month by knitting 3 pairs of socks using Opal Yarn,  See this post for all of the finished socks together.

I am now working on a nice big shawl as a test knit.  The shawl is called Superstar Shawl and is a cardigan style shawl which closes in the front with hook and eye closures and then uses snaps on the sides to create “arm holes”.  I’m using bright and fun yarn from Knit Picks and am loving the look so far.  I’m about halfway done and cannot wait to see the finished product!

On (and Off) the Needles–Socktober 19th

This has been a very productive week for my knitting projects and I have a lot more off the needles than on the needles right now….YAY!

I finished the fingerless mitts that are a Christmas gift.  The pattern if called Jolly Sailor Warmers and was a fun quick knit!

002

I also finished my uncle’s socks.  This makes 1 pair of Opal finished for the Socktober Opal Challenge….YAY!

004

Plus my hubby’s squishy soft socks are finished and I am in love with them!!

001

This week also saw me casting on and casting off a test knit Joselyn Cowl which will be a Christmas gift as well…

001

002

That’s what’s off the needles this week, on the needles are my second pair of Opal Socks.  These will be Circle Socks and are a Christmas gift for my mother in law.  The pattern is written cuff down and I am modifying them for my preferred toe up method.  I’m also using my brand new Signature Needle Arts 2.25mm circs (they just started making this size circs last month and I am tickled pink!!)

On My Needles–Socktober 12th

I’ve been making lots of progress on my socks that I posted last week.

I’m nearly finished my hubby’s socks and will be starting the ribbing soon.  These socks are so soft and fluffy and I just love them!  I almost hope hubby doesn’t like them so that I can wear them when we are watching TV as more of a slipper sock LOL

005

I’ve also turned the heels on my uncle’s socks and am making really good progress on them.  These are my first pair knit for the Opal Socktoberfest Challenge.  Gotta love the way the yarn stripes!

006

I also started a test knit for fingerless mitts last night and am nearly finished the first mitt.  Love this cable look without using a cable needle!  They will be nice an toasty with the DK yarn I’m using….

On (and Off) My Needles–Socktober 5th

Well Socktober is going full swing here on my needles!  I have socks here, there and everywhere!

I finished my Skyp the Tea Party socks last weekend and I love them!  They fit perfectly and are so very bright and cheery!

002

I also made progress on my hubby’s first socks and both heels have now been turned.  These socks are HUGE as hubby wears a 12 wide shoe!

001

And since Monday was Socktober 1st, I was able to cast on my first pair of Opal Socks for the Socktoberfest Opal Challenge.  I bought 5 skeins of Opal yarn on sale intending to use them for Christmas gifts this year.  I’m challenging myself to knit 3 of the skeins up during Socktoberfest!
