A Change of Pace.....

Earlier this week my daughter performed in a concert at the local senior center. When I walked in I saw that they are collecting "Chemo Caps" to hand out to patients that have lost their hair. So I searched online and found a pattern that looked nice and easy. So last night I whipped up 3 caps after I got home from work. I just placed an order for more yarn in fun colors to make more and will enlist my 15 year old daugther's help :)

More Tops.....

OK.....obviously I'm in piecing mode right now LOL
I finished piecing a baby quilt last night. The blocks were sent to me by my BFF after she finished this quilt earlier this year. Nancy sent me her leftover blocks as well as the leftover fishy fabric and flannel that she used for the backing. So I put this top together for a friend of hubby's that just had a little boy.

I also cut up 4 yards of muslin and another jelly roll for my next leader ender project. So there's another 6 3/4 yards out of the stash :) It really feels great to be using stash and piecing tops while piecing other tops (ala Leader/Enders).

Wonder what else I can accomplish this week. Hehehehehe

A Productive Saturday!!

Today sure was a productive day!! I finally finished piecing my Blooming Nine Patch top YAY!!! This top has been 5 years in the making and I am just thrilled to have it done.....now to find the time to quilt it and decide how I want to quilt it LOL

I also decided that I wanted to make a small purse to take sailing tomorrow. I'm going on a wine tasting sail and didn't want to lug my normal purse along.....So I searched the stash and made a Runaround Bag and a matching Wonder Wallet. Both pieces took about an hour to make including cutting the pieces out. This was also the first time I'd ever made either of these patterns. Talk about EASY!!!

Oh and remember the leader ender project I cut out not too long ago??? Well the blocks are FINISHED!!! I pieced all the blocks while putting the Blooming Nine Patch together and now they are ready to be pieced into a top....Guess it's time to decide on another leader ender project LOL....

I hope you all have had a good day as well :)

This Week's Stashbusting Report!!

I actually busted some stash this week and accomplished quite a bit!! I've been working on my Blooming Nine Patch the last 2 days and have the top about 1/3 assembled. I'm really happy with it so far :) I'll post a picture of it later tonight. I've also been making alot of progress on my new leader/ender project. The blocks are already more than half finished :)

As far as stash busting goes.......
  • I finished my Disappearing Nine Patch and busted 3 1/2 yards there
  • I cut out my new Leader Ender project and cut a jelly roll up, this busted 2 3/4 yards
  • That mean I busted a total of 6 1/4 yards this week.....YAY!!!

I also didn't buy any new fabric....YAY!!! I have to say, it's pretty nice to be working with my stash and not feeling the need to go shopping every time I want to sew!!!

Finished a Top......

Well actually a backing, but it could be a quilt top LOL.

Here's my Disappearing Nine Patch top using charm packs from Moda's Sanctuary line. I will be using this as a backing for the embroidered quilt I pieced at my guild's Spring Retreat!! This busted 3 1/2 yards of fabric (even though they were charm packs) and even better, by piecing this backing I avoided buying backing fabric for this quilt!!!

I also got all of the centers pieced for my newest top as leader-enders while putting the D9P rows together......so I'm well on my way :) BTW, I have busted a jelly roll with that project (2 3/4 yards)

My New Leader Ender Project!

Well I had to start another project......and what better way to start a new project than to piece it together while piecing another project!!! When I saw this blog post I fell in LOVE!!! and went to work straight away on drafting a pattern in EQ6. I knew I wanted to use a jelly roll and just went from there in determining what size pieces to cut!!

So this is what I had when I went into the studio this afternoon.....

And this is what I turned it into.......

And soon it will become........

The Valances Are Hung!

I finished the binding on the valances last night. I quilted them a couple months ago but hadn't gotten around to binidng them and adding hanging sleeves. This weekend I decided I needed a hand project while hubby and I watched movies that we had recorded on the DVR so I attached the hanging sleeves and binding and got to work. They are now finished and hanging nicely on the dining room french doors.

I also finally got my split nine patch blocks together (I had started them awhile back and never got them put together, they will be the backing of another quilt that I started at the spring guild retreat this year). I used charm packs from the Sanctuary line by Moda and I'm very happy with this one so far. Using the charm packs allowed me to have a backing to match the quilt without purchasing any additional fabrics :)

I have another customer quilt on the frame and hope to find time this week to get it quilted. It's so nice to be able to leave quilts on the frame now and work on them at my leisure :)

Love Quilt Received

Well I just got an email that the love quilt that my online group at #QuiltChat made (I quilted and bound it) arrived in Alaska. I'm sure it will be very well loved and I am very happy that we were able to make our friend smile :)
