Finished Another UFO!

Last night I finished my 4th UFO of 2008. The kite blocks are from a swap I was in somewhere around 10 years ago. On Tuesday I was off work and pulled out the blocks, decided on sashing fabrics and whipped up the top. Then I found a piece of flannel in the stash for the backing and loaded it onto the HQ16. I quilted it with a loopy meander using yellow Signature cotton. I finished the binding last night while watching CSI: NY. There is a label attached and I will write the baby's name as soon as I confirm the spelling.

This quilt will be going to New Hampshire for my new grand-nephew born last Friday :)
Finishing this quilt busted 3 yards of fabric for the sashing, backing and binding. I also found a piee of batting leftover from another quilt that was the perfect size :) Kinda nice to finish a quilt and not have to buy anything to do it :)

New Technology!!

OK so I'm a techno geek LOL

I love the iPhone, but I have Sprint as my carrier. So I've been looking at their Instinct (which is similar to the iPhone). Well today I bit the bullet and "upgraded" to this new phone. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!

It's a Rough Job but Someone's Gotta Do It!

As you may or may not know, I work as the sales manager for a charter sailboat in Annapolis, MD. Today was the start of the 19th annual Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race. One of our schooners, Schooner Woodwind, competes in the race every year. So we go out on her "sister" Woodwind II to watch the start of the race.

Today was a lovely day, sunny and unseasonably warm (mid 70's). We ran the gammut of wind conditions. From a nice slight breeze, to dead calm, to quite windy all in a matter of 3 hours.
We had a wonderful time watching the 50+ schooners from different parts of the world jockey for position. Here are some of my pictures of the start:

Finished My Workshop Top!!

On Friday we had our Pineapple Blossom workshop with Bonnie Hunter and today I managed to finish my top. I'd finished all of the blocks at the workshop, so all I had to do was sash them and assemble the top. I used the "Sweet Dreams" line from Robyn Pandolph and am thrilled with the result. Just need to decide on the border and quilt it into a finished quilt :) Oh and this top took 3 yards of fabric from my stash - YAY!!!!

I also worked on my Fresh Squeezed top as my leader ender project and got alot done (including the first 2 blocks). I'm very happy with this top. It shouldn't be too long before this top is finished too :)

A Very Bonnie Weekend!!!

Well I just got home from a whirlwind couple of days with Bonnie Hunter. Yesterday was a workshop with Bonnie to make the Pineapple Blossom from her site. We had a blast!!! I walked in the door and got a big hug from Bonnie since I am a Bonnie Junkie/Groupie afterall LOL.....I even have the shirt to prove it. Bonnie got a real kick out of my custom T-shirt hehehe. (I've "borrowed" this better picture from Bonnie's blog, she also has a picture of the back of the shirt on her blog hehehe)

After the workshop, we went to our friend Judie's house and met our mini group, the Sundae Quilters, for a pizza party with sundaes for dessert. We'd also made a special tote bag just for Bonnie and designated her our newest Sundae Quilter :) She seemed to be pleased with this revelation.

Today was our guild meeting and Bonnie gave her Scrap User System lecture/trunk show. What lovely quilts!!! You can go here to see more pictures from Bonnie's show.

Another Love Quilt Received!!

My friend Penny is having some health issues, so the ladies at #Quiltchat got together and we made her a love quilt. My BFF Nancy collected the blocks and assembled the top. Then I quilted the top on my HQ16 with a loopy meander and sent it back to Nancy to bind and send on to Penny.

Today Penny received the quilt and she just loves it! I'm so glad that she is happy and I sure hope it brings her lots of comfort!

When I Get Inspired......Look Out!

Well I got up today and decided to make a tote bag for the baby quilt. I used a piece of patchwork fabric I had in the stash and the same pink I used for the quilt binding to make the tote handles. Both the bag and the quilt were a big hit with the new grandma :)

I also decided to make a portable ironing board using a TV tray. I use 2 fat quarters for the cover and some leftover cotton batting for the padding. I'm looking forward to using this on Friday at my guild workshop with Bonnie Hunter.

Time to go see what else I can find to work on in the studio :)

Finished a Baby Quilt!!!

Well I just finished a baby quilt for my hairdresser's new baby grand daughter. I'll be giving it to her tomorrow. It's all labelled and in the washer right now :)

I quilted Wonky Feathers ala Dawn Ramirez using a solid light pink So Fine thread.

The quilt is from a pattern called Crazy 8s and was oh so easy! I used a total of 4 yards of stash on this quilt. 8 fat quarters for the top, 1 1/2 yards of backing and 1/2 yard of binding.

It sure feels nice to have finished this quilt before it became a UFO :)
